New normal?
« on: February 13, 2020, 02:14:43 am »
Today was a first for me. I got ready for work and during the course of getting dressed, grabbing my keys, grabbing my lunch and soda, I also grabbed my Biktarvy and Bactrim. I didnt think about it. It was just part of my morning routine.

I take my medication at 1230 pm so on days I work during the day, I take it with me to take at that time. I was halfway to work and finally thought about it. For a second, I thought I had forgotten it and that's when I remembered I packed it.

It felt surreal. And of course, after that, it was all I thought of. It felt nice but at the same time I'm positive I'm overthinking the significance.

In any case, I just thought it was interesting and wanted to share.  Good night all.

Yup

Pop a pill and go to work, pay your bills, laugh, cry, eat, shower etc, life goes on.
The surreal feeling will pass and at some point, you will not even think about HIV anymore except maybe for 1 sec when popping your pill and during your check-ups.

The beginning does feel dramatic indeed, but you come to the realisation you just pop a pill and it becomes a routine. And the good thing is it keeps getting more and more normal because, well,it actually is.
I wish all the best to you,the surreal feeling will go eventually.

ojo.     That’s what I call learning to live With HIV. You guys are lucky, nowadays  all what it takes is to pop one pill a day, I have been doing that for 25 years  End it is not just one pill a day... I am glad that you are learning to live with hiv, that means your medication will take control of the virus So you can take control, again, abs your life... I wonder why you take your medication at a time that you take it if I were you I would take you first thing in the morning or last thing at night. I suppose Do you know what you’re doing... Bestif luck and please keep us posted.             ojo

get a key chain pill fob and keep a couple extra pills with you every time you're out.

make sure to switch the pills out (take them and put newer pills in) every so often so your dose in the fob is not old.

I take my meds around 3:30 am everyday to get it over with. I'm so used to it after only after 4 months... it's crazy to think it's been that long but also so short a time....
I sometimes question if I took it at all lol. But the routine works for me as I take it before work and at the beginning of my day. I still have to wrap my head around it at times... but cant stop living and cant stop working towards new goals.  So good luck

Thank you. I take it at 1230 because I work odd hours. The time I wake up and the time I go to bed changes day by day. I was worried that I would throw off the timing of my medication

Thank you. My job has varied hours so some days I will wake up at noon and others will be 6 am. Some days I go to bed at 8pm and others 4 am. So I just picked a time that I knew I would likely be awake

Thank you. It's only been a little under two months. But I'm starting to feel better about things. Still sad sometimes and sometimes I laugh about it inappropriately but I keep going and I feel really good about the future
