I don't know what to make of this
« on: August 21, 2018, 06:04:18 pm »
Hey guys,

I always wear condoms when having sex but I was drunk two times and had sex with a woman off the street and didn't notice my condom burst and ejaculated into her. ( I had masturbated 3 times before this incident earlier in the day so there wasn't much sperm) I was in shock and asked her over and over was she hiv free and she of course assured me she was and she takes the birth control pill so not to worry. I believe we had rough sex for about 5 minutes, I couldn't feel it being broken because she was not wet the entire time which I guess is odd. I monitored my self for a little more than a month but didn't have any symptoms or anything so I kind of shrugged it off. I can get sick very easily because I have autoimmune diseases already like crohn's disease and vitiligo as well as periodontal disease. I was in Turkey on vacation in 2016 and got extremely sick the first day with insane crohn's flares so I know I am prone to get sick as my immune system has always been weak because my diet has always been poor, some days I only eat once and am underweight being 5'9 130 27 yro male....

And I was a heavy smoker and drinker up until a month or so ago that I quit. As for the SECOND situation I received oral sex unprotected for about 30-45 seconds and tried to put on a condom but twice she took it off and refused to have sex without rubbing my penis against her vagina to get wet first ...being very drunk I sheepishly obliged then all of a sudden she stuck my penis in and I felt a sensation of her vagina but it felt rather dry and immediately took it out and stuck it in 3 more times and finally pulled out quickly before ejaculating.Whole thing lasted less than 10 seconds.(She is known to have sex with just about any guy-stupid I know) I ended up getting a sore throat about 7 days later which lasted 4 days or either it was 4 days later that lasted 7 days..I forget which one, but it went away rather quickly and wasn't so severe that I couldn't eat or anything...that was the only symptom I remember having...weird thing is I had same scenario with oral sex from this woman 9 years ago getting unprotected oral sex with no penetration and ended up getting a sore throat in the same timeline as this one...it's all very confusing but I tried to brush it off, this occured around september to october last year...but recently I had a dental checkup for a deep cleaning because I had a gum abscess that was killing me and my gums were really inflamed and the dentist asked if I was hiv+ and I told him I don't think so and he said it might be oral cancer...I was in shock and took pictures and showed it to another dentist but he said nothing looked like oral cancer per se. My dentist gave me antibiotics and I came back 2 weeks later and he said the gums weren't as swollen as before but still looked rather red. (I foolishly was trying to clean along my gum lines with a toothpick and accidentally jabbed my self in the gums a couple times prior to the abscess and cleaning) But I kept thinking about HIV.I feel like I have burning mouth syndrome because my hard palate gums seem so irritated and kind of like a burning feeling all the time. I haven't gotten sick since the exposures though and it's been about a year. I know only a test can confirm my status and symptoms are not specific with HIV but I just wanted incite on my exposures and symptoms and are there other cases that you know of or have had been in contact with that is relative and can give me some idea as to what I could expect. I have given up drinking and smoking because of the stupid behavior I've exhibited. Those were the only 2 exposures in the last year that I've had that were risky. Thank you.

Your symptoms are not HIV specific at all, that said initially most people experience no symptoms whatsoever and its pointless to focus on them, hence we don't here.

The risk was simply unprotected intercourse twice from what I gather , getting your penis sucked is not a HIV risk at all ill add.

So test for HIV and, also for easier to transmit STI's whilst you are at it.
Going forward start using condoms for any intercourse and test like every sexually active adult should at least yearly out of standard routine for STI's & HIV.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

First of all thank you for your prompt reply. I've been going keyboard crazy over this so excuse me if I sound a little over the top. What is your take on these two risks..do you think there is a strong chance I am just being a hypochondriac and over playing the risks? ( I obviously will never do this again and do not mean that the risks are not very real) but  I know you're not a medical professional but I still value your opinion. Thanks.

Your concerns aka the unprotected intercourse met all the conditions needed for acquiring HIV, its a real world risk and the vast majority of adult cases are transmitted this way, so test know your HIV status and also test for easier to transmit STI's.

I can't stress testing enough with you, its the only way to know and, other STI's are far easier to transmit. Some STI's are estimated to be 50 to 100x more infectious than HIV and reading your post has me thinking you have simply not been looking after your sexual health very routinely.

So again use condoms and please no matter do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs
