Oh I'll probably go out at some point today.  Our deck outside the living room needs to be cleared so we can fill up the bird feeder. We broke a record for the snowiest February.

Betty

We broke a record for the coldest February on record.  I'm ever so fortunate that I discovered my broken heat ducts when I did.  For this period last year, my heat bill for one month was $660 and it wasn't as cold.  Was quite happy to receive my bill and see it only be $180.

And now that we're expecting a warming trend, they're calling for mass flooding.  We already sit in a valley below lake level and have a difficult time getting rid of ground water.
Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.

As of now, it looks like we are going to see a repeat of the snow storm from 2 weeks ago.  Six of seven models show significant snow for Louisville on Wednesday, ranging from 4-12 inches.  The snow is just now finally melting from the sunny places.  The dogs have their pooping areas back.  Our little Puggy doesn't like his junk in the snow.

Oh, suppose to be 60 degrees tomorrow on Tuesday.

lol.

I think we have had about 50" so far and it's all still there but compacted a bit. Rain expected on Wednesday. I want it all melted by the time we return from our venture to Palm Springs to check out our possible new digs in a year or most likely two.

Can't wait to escape!

I hope everyone realizes yet another big storm is coming: Wednesday afternoon through Thursday. I've seen predictions for DC to NYC for 8 inches, and up to 12 inches in the Ohio River area (Louisville to Pittsburgh). New England is getting off easy this time with perhaps only 4-8".

edit: never mind I see this has been discussed  :-X

You have had it pretty easy this winter as far as snow goes. We had 6" yesterday, 2" more expected tonight, and 4-8" more tomorrow night. That should bring us up to around 60".  Fair? Hmmm..... lol.

NWS updated forecast -- I suppose I can live with this. However our local newspaper meteorologist is saying 4-6" and higher totals to the south.

My parents in northern Virginia actually have it worse with 6-10"

Not getting buried but supposedly this will NOT be a light powdery snow, but a heavy wet one. We were supposed to change over from rain to snow at 1am but evidently it didn't happen until 6am, but everyone is still sticking to their 4-8" forecast. Maybe I will go out and shovel half way through the event so that it will be easier on my back.

That's what we got and it's horrible.  Once the temps dropped, the roads were like a skating ring.  Heading home from this work this morning was a bit terrifying.  Even with 4 wheel drive, I could barely maintain control even driving at 15mph.  We don't go into ditches, we roll down ravines....  :o

But we're hitting 60 this coming week.

Had front wheel dr. It was old ,stick shift, but I loved driving it. Came in handy too! But was horrible in the snow.

Ended up with a Honda CRV
with AWD or I wouldn't be going no place !
the main roads stay cleared, but the back road are an icy mess

It was too little to drag the thing out. And yes, Kenny has had a rough winter but I think he secretly enjoys it. Works for me.  :)

We got about 14.5 inches at my house.  Highest was about 25".  First time since 1978, we've gotten two winter storms more than 8".  Going down to -10 tonight or lower.  Climate Change is a hoax.  I mean, how could there be snow, if it was real?  ;)

The dogs wanted us to clear a path this morning.  Here's Brian making a bathroom.

Here's Charlie, who wasn't happy with the cleared spot.

And, the fish were actually out.  They thought winter was done.

Yep.  Koi and Goldfish are cold water tolerant.  They just need at least 18 inches depth here.  They have been swimming around more the last month.  Can't feed them until the water temp is 50 degrees, though.

This is magical! From this afternoon through the foreseeable future (OK, well 10 day forecast) not only will we have absolutely no low overnight temperatures below freezing, our daytime highs will all be +50F except for next Friday (44F). We may even reach 60F on Wednesday.

Of course I really shouldn't find this exciting because all it represents is a return to historical averages for this time of year (highs of 51F, lows of 33F).

There is still 3 feet of snow here and we are about to say goodbye to it all to scope out Palm Springs for a possible relocation down the road. (probably 18 months) I hope that I/we won't be disappointed but who knows.

Anyway, so long sub-freezing temps, so long icicles hanging out our kitchen window, so long Frosty, so long snow shovel. Hope to not see you all until at least December!! I doubt all of the snow will be gone by the time we return but one can hope anyway.

Palm Springs forecast calls for sunny days and temps between 85-90F. Just the therapy needed about now.  :)

Final send off to winter! Spring arrives today at 6:45PM.

And it's 36F right now at 6am. I can see the storm nearing on radar and it's snowing as far south as my parent's in northern Virginia, but rain south of that. On the plus side it will be +50F tomorrow so it will melt quickly.

About 2 hours ago the airport reading was at one inch but it's been snowing since around 7am. It only began to stick to the pavement in the past hour though, and I think it's supposed to stop around 6pm. More of a nuisance event here downtown but I know in the western suburbs the totals are more like 4 inches already.

Official count at the airport today was 2.2" of snow though in Media, PA a mere 13 miles directly west of me scored 6.1"

I've been so busy (and tuckered) since we got back that weather has been the last thing I have been paying attention to... UNTIL NOW!

Another 1-3" of snow tomorrow? Really?

M, we're supposed to have snow on Easter.  And it's going to be in the teens tonight temp wise.  This sucks!
