Hiya,

I read your post three times, you had sex and halfway through you felt overwhelmed with shame & guilt. 

The symptoms mentioned have nothing to do with HIV and this encounter wasn't an HIV concern, you did not need PEP or HIV testing outside of the yearly routine screening, move on with your life.

See your healthcare provider so they can check out the lump.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Dear Forum Members,

I hope this message finds you well. It's with a sense of vulnerability that I share a recent experience that has left me anxious and uncertain. In a moment of weakness, I engaged in insertive vaginal sex with a sex worker. I want to emphasize that the encounter was protected, but despite this precaution, I found myself overwhelmed with worry and shame.

Immediately after the encounter, I sought out Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and began the regimen approximately 21 hours afterward. As the weeks progressed, I experienced flu-like symptoms, including fatigue and a persistent sore throat that persisted for about a week, although no fever. Despite testing negative at 27 days post-exposure, my symptoms continued to concern me.

Around the 28th day mark, I began experiencing muscle twitches, spasms, joint pain, and general muscle discomfort. Recently, on day 35 post-exposure and having completed my PEP regimen three days ago, I developed what appears to be a folliculitis-like rash on my left arm and chest, accompanied by a burning sensation. Additionally, the muscle twitching, spasms, and pain persist.

I'm grappling with uncertainty, unsure whether these symptoms could indicate a potential positive diagnosis for HIV seroconversion.

In addition to these symptoms, since day 32, I've experienced discomfort and slight pain in my scrotum. I can also feel a small lump behind my testicles.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to this forum for providing a space where I can seek guidance and support during this challenging time. This experience has prompted me to educate myself more deeply about HIV, and for that, I am immensely thankful.

If anyone has insights, experiences, or advice to share, I would be deeply appreciative. Thank you for your understanding and support.

keep working with your doctor(s) because it's something else besides the meds or an HIV reaction. Hopefully you'll be able to get some relief soon!

I had depression before, but I was functional and my memory and concentration worked. And I didn't have fatigue and an anxiety so huge like I habe now. I didn't have the sensations I have now. After I got sick and went to the hospital, everything changed for worse. I'm really scared about not being able to finish medschool.

Hi, leatherman, my labs came back mostly fine. I have a low vit D but I've always had it. And Anti-TPO 55, but she has not answered me.about it. I'm going to have a thyroid ultrassound but I dont think hypothyroidism could cause everything I'm feeling, specially because I'm already taking levothyroxine. I need to screen for another VL but now my college is so busy that I didn't have time to do it. I'm really concerned because I'm having strong anxiety, memory problems and my concentration is awful. It's reallly sad. I wonder if this is the onset of another disease like Parkinson's or whatever.

I read through your post and don't see any issue that would be a risk of HIV transmission, possible other STIs, but not HIV. HIV is transmitted by either unprotected anal/vaginal sex or by sharing injection needles.

Reducing Your HIV risks:
With no exceptions, use condoms correctly and consistently for anal or vaginal intercourse
Talk to a healthcare provider about PrEP as another layer of protection

Get tested yearly for HIV and other STIs.
If you don’t use condoms and/or PrEP, test more frequently

Some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other more easily acquired STIs. It is possible to show no signs or symptoms from an STI so testing is the only way to know.

Get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

What’s the ONLY way to know if you’ve been infected by HIV or an STI?
Get tested.

Hello there.

I had an encounter yesterday which I believe to be low risk on the surface. But there are some nuances that have caused me concern and I'm wondering if I might be able to get some advice please.

I'm a gay guy and I had a guy come over. We kissed a lot (zero) risk and then I rode his penis while we were both in our underwear. He obviously never penetrated me this way although there was a lot of precum from him. Again, I assume here no risk?

At one point though, he had me on my back and was against my anus with his dick (unclothed and dick was touching my anus). He also had precum on his fingers and was touching my anus. He teased the area ready to finger me, although he didn't actually go in.

The nuance here is (and I apologize for the graphicness) but I have had some issues the last week when I've been passing a stool. Through a bit of straining and also wiping with more coarse, lower quality paper, I've felt a little sore down there and there have been specks of light red blood on the paper.  This has happened before and it usually passes within a day or two. I hadn't been to the bathroom for several hours before this encounter and couldn't say for sure if I had had blood THAT day, but was nevertheless sensitive around that region.

So my worry is about open wounds and whether by him with lots of precum being in that area and possibly rubbed on these wounds (I assume maybe haemorrhoids), this puts me at risk. I showered immediately afterwards, but obviously that makes no difference.

Sorry to go into so much graphic detail but this is concerning me a lot. He tells me he is all clear but you obviously never know. I'm traveling with work at the moment so getting access to PEP is not ideal and it's the weekend.

He is not on PREP as far as I am aware.

I do appreciate this might be one of those eye roll osts that people read and just think it’s a load of nonsense, but I would appreciate any help

             ojo.             @leatherman, what are you doing “de mojarra” (mojado) on this forum LOL?. LOL. I always wanted to learn French, as matter fact, I’m having some classes on my own. I hope I can be fluent in French. Hola a todos los que nos leen, les cuento: el martes tuve cita con el infectólogo como siempre, sólo hablamos de mís resultados de sangre y siempre me dicen lo mismo:Tonny2 tú eres un hombre fuerte, has pasado por mucho pero si no fuera por Neuropatia y el problema de tus ojos estarías muy sano, quisiera tener algo más en mi caja de herramientas para poder ayudarte a resolver esos problemas pero, es todo lo que puedo hacer por ti. Nos vemos en seis meses.



Así son mis visitas con el infectólogo afortunadamente si no hay malas noticias estoy bien. El ojo que me operé está mejorando ya casi no hay inflamación aunque la esclera todavía se ve un poco de color rosa y Debe verse blanca. El 28 de mayo veré al cirujano Para ver qué sigue. Creo que de ahí me manda a hacer mi ojo biónico. Ya les platicaré… Mi osteoporosis el mismo 28 de mayo que veo al cirujano iré a ver al especialista de los huesos para hacerme una prueba de densidad de huesos para saber si tanto  Piquete en la panza a mejorado la densidad de mis huesos, como les dije, este problema de osteoporosis según el médico tiene que ver convivir mucho tiempo con una condición crónica y además ya soy un chavo Ruco. Ustedes a seguir a tomar sus medicamentos que no estarán en mi situación … Como siempre, si se van de fiesta no olviden el globito. A cuidarse y si andan demás, háganse el examen de VIH no tengan miedo porque es mejor saberlo uno, para detectarlo a tiempo y no dañe su sistema inmune y dos para que no anden contagiando a otros. Llevamos 40 años de pandemia y todavía no aprendemos a cuidarnos pero la calentura es tremenda… Abrazos
