I am HIV positive and my wife is HIV negative. Can we use a female condom and a regular condom for double protection.

Use one or the other. I would bet that the friction between the two would not be a good thing.

I have to agree with the Divinely Buckled One here doll. A regular condom + a femidom == double gloving which is a no-no.

Like Uncle Bucko notes the friction of latex on latex can cause a rupture. The resultant fuss and PEP are not desirable.

I agree with Bucko. People sometimes double condoms in hopes making sex even safer. The irony is it causes them to tear and has the exact opposite effect.

Worn properly latex condoms have proven to be very effective protection against transmission.

As for wanting to double them, WR, having anxiety around the issue of protecting her negative status is very understandable on either or both of your parts. Talking about that and your feelings may help to ease the anxiety.

As Ann always says, "Condoms are a girl's best friend."

Definitely dont do both.  My wifey is negative and we have been fuckin like bunnies for 3 years.  Im the only one that wears a condom.

Check out any one of Ann's posts for her condom links.  They are good.

Hi wrm,

It's me, the condom lady! :D

Check out the condom and lube links in my signature line and also check out the links on the left-hand side of either of those two pages. There's one that leads to a discussion about the female condom.

Happy reading! ;)

I'm in the same boat, +ve with a -ve wife.

Since being diagnosed, I have to admit I have doubled up with the condoms on more than one occasion.  After reading this advice, I won't be doing that again.

Anyhow, our sex life has gone down the tube recently.  We both hate using condoms.  I like the full sensation and I just don't feel anything with the glove on.  I don't know what to do to bring that old feeling back.

lostboy, have you tried the polyurethane condoms? They are not a sensation-reducing and tend to transfer heat a lot better. Plus, you can use them with oil-bsed lubricant, which makes it even more natural.
