Rilpivirine muscle pain
« on: October 04, 2024, 12:50:02 pm »
Hi guys,

Hope you can help me
I was taking rilpivirine plus turvada and started experiencing muscle pain
And lower back pain.
I went To see my doctor and he switched to Darunavir/ritonavir + turvada.
It has been 5 days now since o stopped taking rilpivirine and I still feel muscle pain/lower back pain .
How long will these side effects go away completely?
Once I have experienced muscle pain/lower back pain from rilpivirine, how likely is it that I will experience same effects from Darunavir/ritonavir?

Hiya,

Sorry to hear about the back pain, is it the lower back? How long were you taking the Rilpivirine plus Truvada before this problem started? Have you been back to your GP or had any additional tests from the clinic like an MRI of the back?

Besides this issue, how are you otherwise doing/feeling?

Should have seen improvement or gone already unless the cause is something different or a different med. What did your doctor say?

Yes it is the lower back.
I took rilpivirine plus turvada for 3 months before this problem started and no , I have not been back to my GP.
Otherwise, I have been pretty good. Just this muscle pain which is killing me.

I have read somewhere that rilpivirine can take up to 10 days to leave the body completely.
Should I allow more time ?

I would be booking a return visit to the GP already as it will be at least a few days later before the appointment.

If before the return appointment suddenly the issue does clear you can always cancel the appointment. As for total clearance, the drug levels have already massively dropped.

I wouldn't expect it or it would not be my first suspect... anyhow, you need to see your GP but I will send you a PM on this topic shortly.
