Gave oral with semen in mouth
« on: September 08, 2024, 06:34:55 am »
Hello, so tonight I foolishly met up with a stranger on Grindr to give them oral sex.
I know the chances of HIV from giving oral even with semen in the mouth is low risk however I have two concerns.

First concern is the person did claim they are negative on their Grindr profile but you never know as they didn’t show a specific testing date on there which has me paranoid now.

My second concerns are, I gave oral to completion but I was too embarrassed to spit out the semen in front of them so I held it in my mouth for 2 mins maybe even 3! then spit it out.
And about 5 mins later I used mouth wash,I read that keeping semen in the mouth for a longer period can increase your chances of HIV not sure if this is true?
I also use Nicotine pouches in my mouth several times a day (non tobacco) I didn’t feel or see any type of cuts in my mouth, but I did see a little whiter/slight discoloration patch on my gum that may be irritation from the nicotine pouches? Which worries me, now I’m concerned that I may have a cut or two in my gums or mouth that I can’t see or feel besides that tiny discolored patch on my gums.
Again the patch I’m talking about was not red and irritated or bleeding just looked a little paler compared to other parts on my gums.
Would I need HIV testing for this encounter ?
Appreciate anyone that takes the time to answer these questions!

So even if they had shown a specific date, let's pretend the date was the morning before you met, it would still mean absolutely nothing to you due to the window period and several other reasons. Claimed HIV status, claimed testing status, testing date, etc are all extremely irrelevant.

I read your post three times including concerns and what-ifs, etc.

Short answer, it's not an HIV risk.

Giving a blowjob, the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect also there are barriers such as saliva that neutralizes HIV by damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells. Giving a blowjob is such a minute HIV risk that it doesn't warrant HIV concern or testing outside of routine. Nothing you mentioned changes that.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider using PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please get tested routinely, ideally every three months as a PrEP user.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you very much Jim for answering my questions, I really appreciate you answering so many questions that people have, you’re a gentleman.

One last thing my paranoid mind has to add is I did just notice I may have a little cut/irration on my lip from them being a little dry would this change anything from what you’ve said? I apologize if this question comes off as foolish.

You're welcome.

Now, you did have a risk for far easier to transmit STIs, however, there no need to panic or run out and test.

As you are sexually active get a routine STI & HIV test yearly, use condoms for any intercourse, consider taking PrEP as an additional layer of HIV prevention and get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B. You could also talk to your healthcare provider about DoxyPrEP as an additional layer of prevention against certain other STIs.
