What do you mean "slipped" ?

Did you slip out of the condom whilst pulling out, leaving it hanging out? You don't know, pulled out and couldn't find the condom, the other person had to go fishing for it? Did it ride up a little on your shaft? "Slipped" doesn't tell me much.

Hi Mr Jim,

One month ago, i had a risky exposure where my condom slipped at the end of the sexual intercourse with a casual partner. The condom came off and I did have penetration without the condom at the end.

2 1/2 weeks later, i went to take a 4th Gen Combo test, it showed non-reactive.

Another 2 weeks on, I took another 4th Gen test, this time it showed Ab reactive as a faint line. I repeated the test and the same results shown up as a faint line on the Ab.

The Doctor decided to do Oraquick to confirm the Ab presence, one with Saliva and one with Blood. Both turned out to be negative.

Are my tests conclusive? I have alot in mind now. I want your advice on the tests, Mr Jim.

It did ride up my shaft for a few times.

That's not an HIV risk.

I did have penetration without the condom at the end.

This is an HIV risk.

So what happened? Just give me one answer, is the issue it was riding on the shaft or did condomless intercourse happen?

Another 2 weeks on, I took another 4th Gen test, this time it showed Ab reactive as a faint line. I repeated the test and the same results shown up as a faint line on the Ab.

So a rapid test and was the faint line within 15-20 mins or did it take longer?

The Doctor decided to do Oraquick to confirm the Ab presence, one with Saliva and one with Blood. Both turned out to be negative.

So both rapid tests at the 4-week mark?

I know I am being direct, its not to cause you an issue but I need to understand what happened to help you.

Hi Mr Jim.

Condomless intercourse did happen.

Rapid test and the Ab faint line was within 15-20 mins

Oraquick both Saliva and Blood was at the 4th Week Mark. Both non-reactive.

The 4th Gen Rapid test at the 2nd week Mark was non-reactive.

The 4th Gen test at the 4th Week showed a pink/faint line at the Antibody line.

Excellent summary, thank you.

People posting in "Do I have HIV" are limited to three messages for free, however, as I had additional questions and we do want to assist I reset the counter for you, so you could answer and I truly appreciate the clear summary provided.

So firstly you are testing within the window period, it's too early for all these sets of rapid tests and another rapid test within that window isn't confirmation testing despite what your doctor, I presume a GP or similar might think.

Now, I suspect you are fine for several reasons, I truly think this will be a negative HIV result outcome, however, being cautious, I must recommend confirmation testing, so seek a clinic that can provide lab testing, either an HIV antibody differential test from the vein or an HIV 1/2 NAT test if they have it.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

No problem.

Like I said, I suspect you are fine, so relax but do get confirmation testing if possible to confirm that.
