Participants needed -- UCSF study on HIV and heart disease
« on: April 25, 2023, 08:52:06 pm »
Approved posting of a study:

Hi!

Our team at UCSF is recruiting participants for a study called Text Education About Cardiovascular Health and HIV (TEACH-HIV). The entire study is online or on your phone. There are no in-person visits.

In Part 1 of the study, we are studying the risk of heart disease in people living with HIV. Participants fill out surveys about their health and health behaviors every 6 months. We are not offering payment for Part 1. You may be eligible if you are living with HIV, at least 40 years old, and able to speak and read English. You do not need to live in the San Francisco area to participate in Part 1.

In Part 2 of the study, we are looking at whether sending educational text messages can help people living with HIV to lower their risk of heart disease. If you participate in Part 2, you may receive educational text messages about HIV and heart disease and how to lower your risk of heart disease. The messages will be sent 4-5 times per week for up to 6 months. You will also fill out a brief 10 minute survey once a month. Participants who complete all of the study activities for Part 2 will receive giftcards worth a total of $50. This part of the study is limited to the San Francisco area. You may be eligible if you are living with HIV, at least 40 years old, able to speak and read English, own a smartphone, do not have cardiovascular disease, and receive your primary care or HIV care at UCSF or Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
