Is Candida a risk? Help
« on: September 29, 2020, 12:51:55 am »
Has anyone suffered from oral candida?  I had red lesions on my palate and a white coating on my tongue that goes away with brushing.  I have read that it is not a good sign but that it is also common.., my last results were "undetectable" and 360 cd4 this March.  In my country we are checked every 6 months. Any advice?

Hiya,

Not sure what you mean with not a good sign. Do see your regular healthcare provider so they can dignose and treat whatever it is.

Now it could be a fungal overgrowth as you suspect and as you correctly said it's  common enough, regardless of HIV status. Usually treated with an antifungal medicine. It's becomes a bigger issue when it's invasive candidias.

Anyhow, common enough, nothing to panic about, just see your doctor and do get it treated.

Best, Jim
