Double dose
« on: February 08, 2020, 01:25:04 am »
I take my generic Complera (2 pills) after dinner every day and quite consistently.

This morning, still drowsy, I popped down my Complera pills instead of the statines and bupropion... I realized that only minutes later looking at my pill box.
By chance (or not?) I had the routine check appointment with my hiv doc just this morning and explained to him: he suggested taking my dose tonight as usual after dinner.
That means I'll be taking 3 doses in 24h and I'm perplexed... I told him and he said no big deal as far as it doesn't happen frequently.
I trust him but since I read different opinions here (skipping today dose and restart as usual tomorrow night) I wanted to have your feedback.

What would you do?

Thanks

Your doctor is the expert, but 3 doses of Rilpivirine would take you to the 75 mg limit for possibly affecting your heart rhythm. He probably realizes this and I assume has your heart test results so knows it will be ok.

I would follow his advice.

Regards
Dave.

Iíve been on Complera for over 5 years and in that time I have double dosed at least half a dozen times...Usually it the case where I took my pills at diner and then an hour later I think I forget and immediately pop the pills only to discover another hour later (because of a headache) I double dosed... Not good but not fatal... I now have a pill case that holds a 7 day supply that allows me to count the pills to the day of the week to know if I have or have not taken my pills...

Thank you to both of you!

Btw, eventually I decided to follow the doc advice. I donít think he has my ecg results but thatís a good point to raise at the next appointment.
I do have a pill box and reminders on the phone, the problem is I keep all my meds in it (hiv meds or not), I just took from the pill box the wrong meds. Maybe I need 2 boxes, 1 for hiv meds, 1 for the others.

Thanks again
