Truvada and TDF putting the lawsuit advertising into perspective
« on: November 08, 2019, 07:02:43 pm »
A link to an article by thebodypro putting TDF lawsuits into perspective.

While some people have had some nasty side effects from TDF if we look at the discontinuations due to side effects, they were less than 1%.  https://www.thebodypro.com/article/misleading-prep-ads-must-be-removed. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

To the people who have been adversely affected, good luck in your lawsuit.

The main effect of TDF was not dying of HIV/AIDS for most people.  Pretty important compared to side effects experienced by a few people.  IMHO

I find Gilead an evil company. Forgetting about side effects to TDF which are rare, Gilead is accused of delaying the new formulation of Truvada (TAF) to milk as much out of their patent protected TDF until the patent ran out. Now that patent protection is expiring they introduce TAF touting its benefits over TDF when they could have introduced it years earlier.
I believe this law suit only strengthens Gileads claim that TAF is good, TDF is bad encouraging everyone to abandon TDF and its generic equivalent and run to the patent protected TAF so they can make billions more.

Sounds like an average company to me. Without getting into too many details I think I've worked directly & indirectly for worse including medical device supply companies.
