Thinking of going on a trip (sort of a one week vacation)
« on: August 09, 2019, 09:39:23 am »
Since season is ending soon, and I made (and will make) a ton of cash,I thought of going on a one week vacation.
Thing is I don't know where to go haha. I certainly need to go somewhere cheap hahaha. Thought of going to the Netherlands, because I have a friend there I can go out with. My brother told me there are hostels as cheap as dirt haha.
What do you think/recommend?

The Netherlands is nice, you just missed the pride in A-dam.

"Utrecht" is really nice, lovely terraces at the canals to have drinks at and more to the point it has real charm instead of the tourist attraction A-Dam. Utrecht is also a city and, relatively young and outgoing.  Amerland/Terschelling/Vlieland Islands are really nice in the north of The Netherlands stunning beauty and beaches might be a bit borning though unless you are into the beach culture and can manage german (The locals speak English/Dutch/Frisian & German, but the Islands are used to accommodating German speakers, so a lot of info/signs and visitors this time of year are german)

Copenhagen is one of my favourite towns to visit, in Denmark. Reminds me so much of the Netherlands yet cleaner and with better transport although a taxi is highly expensive.  Again great places to see and go out to an excellent nightlife.

Dublin is a hole, but if you like plastic paddy bars for tourists and pubs that close early with Waterdown beer it's a possibility. Anywhere else in Ireland you would be grand like flying into Cork instead or flying into Dublin but only visiting it for a day trips etc.  Worst case scenario you can stay at mine for a few days, don't worry I don't bite unless you like that  ;D

London I hate/love, it's dirty but it has a certain attraction

Portugal. Lisbon I love. Nice people, friendly, good food, Metro well organized, a tad boring though...

Best, Jim

I've been  to London, probably the craziest place ever haha (sorry if I offend anyone),since my brother lives there and I had the luck to stay in his house for free  and get my expenses sorted by him (he has a lot of casheroo so I don't care,I'm the youngest 😂😂😂).
Really want to see the windmills there, never seen any from up close,it seems quite magical.
Dublin seems like a nice place,in general the places where there's a lot of green seem pleasant for winter.
The flat surface would be very weird to get used to,since where I am from it's all mountains an holes on the street haha.
Thanks for all the suggestions,I'll actually start planning from now. Plus I'll get a paper from my docs to make sure when I go to the airport (just in case if they ask).

Well, Ireland is generally miserable in the wintertime, lots of rain.

Probably still better than London 😂.
I might go to London at my brothers for free haha and then take a plane from there to either Ireland or Scotland, because why not 😅.
