2006: A Review
« on: December 28, 2006, 04:38:30 PM »
I am not anyone to argue with tradition... so I'd like to know what everyone's highlights of this past year were.  Personally, I like breaking down mine by month.

January 2006: Best thing about this month was... hmm... well, it was kind of boring for me.  Moving on.  I did get promoted at work.  That was cool.  Other than that, 31 days of bleak emptiness.

February: Ended up rekindling some old friendships by going to DC too see She Wants Revenge.  I will always remember drunkenly screaming from the back of a car as we were going down 14th St. that the Washington Monument at night looks like a KKK guy with glowing red eyes.  I also threw the now famous Black Valentine's/Happy Birthday Paris Hilton party in which I made my friend dress up as Paris Hilton.  We made a cake.

March: Got back together with the evil exboyfriend, went to New York with my roommate to see him, had a lovely time... made the loving official once again.  This was, in retrospect, stupid.  I also went to see Stereolab.  Huzzah!

April: More trips to New York.  Moved from an awesome apartment to a very crappy one.  I got a kitten and named him Rimbaud.

May: Realizing that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different outcome each time, I break up with the evil exboyfriend.

June:: Roadtrip to Montreal.  I did things there which wouldn't look very nice in print but make for really great stories that would later destroy any hopes I have of running for any public office.  My best friend came up to see me from South Carolina, and we galavanted about Virginia like two young hooligans on crack (which we weren't, by the by).

July: Mostly spent at the beach.  Fun fun fun.

August: This month was spent in a drunken haze.  I think someone who wasn't me got arrested.  It was very hot, and I spent a lot of time praying to the Freon Gods.

September: Big birthday fun in DC... the city of my birth!  I also saw Ladytron a couple of weeks later.  Twas amazing.

October: My friends came up from South Carolina to get married in Richmond.  We were very drunk.  My roommate also admitted to me that her cocaine problem had gotten a wee tad out of control and that she had technically laundered the rent and bill money I had given her and that we were now rather far behind in payments.  I forgive her, and everything is much better now.  I decide that it would probably be best if I stop doing drugs as a sign of eoncouragement.

November: She pays me back.  I also eat a lot of turkey.  Oh, and I learn that I should start medication.  Begin gulping Atripla on 30 Nov.

December: Hmm... Christmas with the fam.  Nothing too interesting.  I conquered the Atripla side effects... and am looking forward to a trip to Austin in two weeks.  Start playing the piano and taking up photography again, since I have slowly been realizing exactly how much money even the smallest of cocaine habits cost... and I need something to fill the void.

That's it!  I wanna hear what you guys have done this year!

Sweetie-darling, I can't remember what I did this morning, much less January.  You must be a diarist or have a photographic memory.  I have flash bulb memory.   My only sense of tradition involves older siblings squabbling with each other over completely unimportant recollections of the past while sitting with their children at at table laden with holiday food.  My immediate family doesn't bother any more.

I'm jumping the gun by two or three days but guess I'll make it through 2006 into 2007. That's about as much as I accomplished in 2006.  And added 6 more cats to an already catful house.  I'm going bankrupt buying cat litter.

String up every aristocrat!
Out with the priests and let them live on their fat!

Everything I do, say, think, excrete, secrete, exude, ooze, or write 2007 Sweet Old Boo, Inc.
