Please help me understand this
« on: February 02, 2019, 12:33:53 pm »
Hello. In April I travelled to the Far East and whilst drunk I received unprotected oral sex from an escort in a massage parlour. It was a stupid thing to do. Since then I have been wracked with panic and my health has deteriorated with certain symptoms that match symptoms associated with HIV infection (I know you donít comment on symptoms). My question is, is it possible I have been infected as I understand that although from reading reports that the risks are very small they are possible?

I also wondered if given the unlikely transmission via oral sex it could have happened as a result of receiving oral sex from someone (the woman) who was providing oral sex to other men in the same room. Can saliva infect through abrasions in the penis and can poor dental hygiene result in transmission to the insertive prtner?

Iíd very much welcome the learned response of the forum contributors? Thank you.

Receiving unprotected oral sex is simply not a risk for HIV-infection, but could be a risk for other STD's/STI's.  The HIV is fragile, so would not survive in any of the modes that you have described in your post (direct oral or indirect oral).

If receiving unprotected oral sex were a viable mode of HIV-transmission, most of the world would be infected by now!

Please access this link to read, learn, and understand how the virus is transmitted:

If  anxiety is ruining your life, simply test for HIV-antibodies and once you have conclusively tested negative (for the activity you have described in your post), you can move on with your life.

Thank you for the quick response. So Iím right in thinking that the incident didnít pose any risk? Not even theoretical? I know the odds are very small.

The odds are as close to zero as possible.  No male in the history of the HIV-pandemic has been documented to have contracted the HIV as a result of receiving unprotected oral sex.

You shall not be the first.

Again, if the anxiety is destroying your life, simply test for HIV-antibodies and, when you have conclusively tested negative. move on with your life.

Thank you once again. I will test for peace of mind; however I take fully on board all of your points based on the evidence available. Thank you for allowing people to raise issues via this forum and the work you all do.

You might as well test for pregnancy...

The activities mentioned here lack all the bilogical conditions required for aquiring HIV.  Since your a male and got your penis sucked I equally doubt that you will be given birth anytime soon but by all means test for pregnancy whilst you are at it...

If this was your only sexual encounter in life than you simply don't have HIV
