Please help me. I'm terrified
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:26:13 pm »
Hello.  I had a significant exposure 45 days ago (exactly).  I started pep less than 24 hours later.  I took the at home oraquick test on day 40, 43, and day 45 after exposure.  I followed the instructions carefully.  How much weight should I put in these results.  Also I need someone to talk to.  Is there someone here in San Diego that would be willing to get together?

Since you don't describe your potential exposure, I can't provide you with a risk assessment.

However, PEP is enormously effective, and, since you started it with the regimen's 72-hour window, it is highly likely that you will conclusively test negative for HIV-antibodies.

Many experts recommend that testing for HIV-antibodies be conducted six weeks after potential exposure, then at 13 weeks past potential exposure for confirmation of the six week results.

Your six-week test, however, is very promising and is unlikely to change.

Complete your PEP-regimen as prescribed and work with your healthcare provider to get a conclusive HIV-antibody test.

Only moderators of this forum can respond to posts such as yours, and, since none of of us is from the San Diego area, none may be able to address you question concerning people in the San Diego area.  Perhaps, check with your healthcare provider or consult (i.e. "Google") for an HIV-related support group in the San Diego area, if that is the basis of your question.
