Just saw my result
« on: January 16, 2019, 03:37:09 am »
I just read my positive test result. I intend to see my doctor in the next couple of days. I do not have an overwhelming sense of dread but am hopeful that treatment will be effective. I havenít had my baseline counts yet. So naturally Iím a little worried about that. Iíll talk to my husband tomorrow. His test from last week is negative. He talked a lot about the need to be understanding and supportive since he was bracing for a positive test. Not him, but me. I hope and believe the support goes both ways since he fully expected my test would be negative. We have friends who have been living healthy lives as poz men for a long time. Iím 58 so itís a lot to take in but I think I can deal with it emotionally. I survived the early days of the epidemic and I plan to survive now.  Iím basically an optimistic person and I donít see that changing presuming treatment goes the way it should. I donít plan on sharing my status with other family and friends (except my poz friends) yet. Itís not a secret. Itís private. Maybe as time goes by. I never thought Iíd have to come out again.

Really sorry to hear about the initial HIV result.

Sounds like you have a good understanding that if the result is confirmed that life pretty much goes on nowadays with treatment although I can understand its still a shock/worry

My advice is to get the follow-up appointment have the additional blood work done including confirmation testing so you know where you stand. Until you have all the results in ill ask you to please only post in this one thread. Thank you.

Take it easy
