Unprotected cunnilingus with prostitute
« on: November 28, 2017, 08:49:35 am »
Hi all,

Thanks a lot in advance for running this great forum that provides great advice.

Like a lot of other people here, I have a query. I had unprotected cunnilingus with a female prostitute and I had a small non-bleeding cut on the inside of my lip. Just wanted to know if there is any hiv risk involved here?
Do I need to get tested over this?

Hi,

The fluids a woman produces when excited are not infectious, also your mouth is a natural barrier and a hostile place for the virus.
It contains dozens of proteins and enzymes that damage it and render it unable to infect. Bottom line is this was no risk for HIV.

Keep in mind other STIs are much easier to transmit and you should be testing for all on a regular basis since you are sexually active.

Best,

Wade

Thanks a lot wade. Makes sense to have regular testing, thanks for reiterating. But you believe I don't need a test specifically for this incident right?

Great thanks, I need to stay away from the internet to avoid unnecessary doubts. As this was the only concern, I'll skip worrying about it.

Hey, one question that I had which I forgot to ask previously. I believe this is the right place to ask than looking for answers on the net- and put things to rest.

The small cut that I spoke about, although not bleeding, was relatively new- a couple of hours. Does that make any difference to the assessment?

Thanks a lot in advance for the patience and advice.

No made no difference and Wade already took that into account from your first post.

Out of curiosity, I've tried to look up for studies that distinguish bartholin flag secretion from cervicovaginal ones. Couldn't find any though. Maybe not in public domain. If there is anything in public domain, could someone please share the same. It'll be good to know!

Thanks a lot. Actually I did read it before, and the mention of vaginal oral sex as low risk is a bit confusing.

Nobody has ever been infected this way. 40 years, 78 million cases none shown to be through this route. the only 2 claimed cases I know about when studied turned out to be sharing drug rigs and needles as well, something neglected to initially mention ;) No need to wonder why someone would lie, given the level of stigma associated with both HIV and drug usage.

Keep in mind its a risk assessment service we offer here, i am not a bloody librarian.

HIV via cunnilingus, see the fluid a woman produces when sexually excited comes from the Bartholin's glands, this is a lubricating fluid and does not have any more hiv present than other bodily secretions such as saliva, sweat or tears. Saliva, sweat and tears are not infectious fluids.

The mouth also lacks the cells to infect, so even if it was infectious and its not without gaping wounds in your head its not a concern and even if you had gaping wounds saliva is also hostile towards HIV and damages the receptors needed to infect.

Keep in mind that HIV firstly needs to be present for it to be a risk and in sufficient quantity for it to transmit, it also than needs an effective route, and it must also reach cells which are susceptible to infection.

Simple Cunnilingus does not meet the biological requirements and even in a what if scenario such as blood there are still too many barriers, unless you are a vampire who enjoyed with serious oral health issues. To again that nobody has been infected this way. Trust me your are not going to be a world's first proven case.

There is nothing more we can do for you here, you asked for a risk assessment and we have given you one. Looking for an issue when you have not or trying to find a reason to be the 1 in 78 million is irrational, what you do with the information we have provided you is up to you.

Wade has been very clear in his risk assessment and there is nothing more to add within the service that we offer.

Please note as you had no risk, further posting on this will be deemed as excessive and lead to a 28 ban, this is to encourage you to speak to someone face to face to help you beyond this irrational concern.

Hello guys,
Thanks a lot for being so helpful earlier!

I have another situation- and a different query this time. I recently received an unprotected fellatio/blowjob from a women which I would consider to be someone with a higher risk.

What is the risk associated with this scenario in terms of HIV?
Although there was no visible blood, but even then, will it change the assessment?
Does this need any sort of testing for HIV?

She had a pulse?

People are not high, low or no risk to you. Your activities with them is what might be a risk or no risk. It's not who you do it with, it's how you do it.

Her status is not your concern so stop thinking what risk groups someone else might be in as that is their concern, all you have to worry about is your own.

Getting your penis sucked is not a HIV risk, saliva is not HIV infectious, it also contains over a dozen elements that neutralize HIV. Let me put it this way after 40 years in terms of BJ's there hasn’t been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked") and you will not be the first.

Will you please stop asking no-risk scenario questions?
As an adult your risks are:

- Use condoms for any intercourse (Giving a BJ near negligible, no need to test)
- Sharing syringes and drug rigs
- Transplants and blood transfusions ... Well really rare but what are you going to do about it? Nothing if you need one you need one

Thanks a lot for your reply once again!
My apologies, anxiety gets the best of me, and I'm not well educated about the risks.
This really helps! No risk=no test, and a more aware me!

Thanks. Have a great day sir!

You're welcome.

Also stop stressing, if you find yourself thinking about this again simply remember that realistically all you need and need to do in order to avoid a HIV infection is to use condoms for intercourse, if one does break take PEP. (They shred leaving no doubt) finally avoid sharing sharing syringes and drug rigs.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Hi, I recently had protected sex with a women of unknown status. Because we did some hard fingering, I guess she started to bleed- which we did not realize.

When we finished having sex, I saw a lot of blood on the condom- like a lot. The condom was visibly intact- but I'm super scared about his incident. Can you guys please help access the situation at hand?

Thanks

Hiya

This incident does not warrant any not an HIV concern. Move on with your life, continue to use condoms and test like every sexually active adult should at least yearly for STI's & HIV

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider starting PrEP going forward as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as safe in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other easier to transmit STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

So having blood is not a concern as well? Maybe I touched the condom and then my penis with the same hand.
I can ignore the fever from an HIV standpoint?

We can also deny the possibility of blood going inside the condom given that it was so much?

The condom is designed to hold out the fluids during sex or hold them in, be it blood or vaginal fluids, sperm etc otherwise there would be no point in using one

You saw some blood and are panicking because of it were no panic was needed, be it blood or other-fluids it changes nothing about how a condom works and sex is often not a clean activity if done correctly.

Read back your thread and the concerns.

You are worried because of fluids and more recently a bit of blood. This is going to happen from time to time when engaging in sex, it's a messy activity. There is however no need to stress or panic. That is the point.

Just continue to use condoms, consider PrEP as an additional layer and like all sexually active adults test at least yearly for STI's & HIV out of standard routine.
