We got over a foot of snow between Saturday night/Sunday.  Then last evening we got a couple more inches.  I'm over it at this point because of the shoveling.  We have an electric shovel which helps, but it is very heavy. I'm ready for spring and often wonder why I still live in this area lol.

Rain is North of us right now, so we got to get moving, to get that 2 mile walk in today.

30 % chance to day, and 80% tomorrow...   This is supposed to be the dry season, but we seem to be getting our share of rain.

So there's a polar vortex arriving this evening and by the morning it will be 12F, then a second front arrives Sunday night/Monday morning and we'll go to 4F (with -23F wind chills). Really not featuring that last one since I have an 11am doctor's appointment on Monday.

We will not see a high again of +40F for another 10 days :(

There's mention of possible 2/16-17 Mid-Atlantic ice/snow storm down here but that's still far off and will change surely. We've still escaped with only 5" all season so far.

We're having perfect midwestern weather.  It snows then gets warm enough to stroll around.  I've been walking like crazy since I've not had the ability for a while now.  I had several people I know(small ass community) stop and ask if I needed a ride.  NO, I"m working off the holiday pounds and I love walking.  ;D

Seriously, I love this time of the year when it's not so horribly hot that I can't function

We've gotten over 60" of snow so far this winter.  This weekend it's supposed to be even more frigid than it is right now (it's 6F), with a low Monday of-9F.

Winter is dragging on....

I feel really bad for Boston -- they're getting ANOTHER huge blizzard Sunday morning: 70mph winds, 10 inches of snow. Blizzard watches up from Nantucket north to the Canadian border.

Looks like Mark will get 4-8" :D

I'm scraping by with 1"

The latest local weather report says we will probably get between 3-6" Saturday into Sunday. By Monday and Tuesday night the temps will be around -7 and -25 with the windchill!! I can't even remember when was the last time we've seen that here.

Normally I would worry about my precious garden but since we have had about 35" of snow that barely had a chance to melt I think the "snow insulation" will keep much of it safe.

Meanwhile Wumpella is basking in warmth and battling the cactuses that he claims are so dangerous. Does he use a lasso? Dunno.

oh, and the storm later in the week could be a doozy... or not.

M, your forecast sounds exactly like ours.  We're under a winter storm warning starting tomorrow at 7am through Sunday.  It's lake effect snow.  Wind gusts up to 40mph, temperatures in the negatives.  I'm going to try to,fashion a better kitty shelter so the kitty (or kitties) can somewhat stay out of the frigid temps.

Yes. One was here first and has his own box under our porch. I bought him a warmer so he can stay somewhat warm.  The other cat came later and he sleeps in the igloo with straw in it.

It's frigid out with wind chills at -20F.  At least the winds have died down for the most part.   Yesterday was so nasty I couldn't even stand to smoke (which I do outside).

At least the cats are taken care of.  I had bought a "warmer"on Amazon a couple months ago and it's been invaluable.  I put it in the microwave for 4 & 1/2 minutes and it stays warm for about 4-5 hours.  The cats love to curl up on it inside the box.

Same here. We've had winds up to 55mph at the airport and tonight into the morning we may break our 1888 record and go to 0F with -25 wind chills.

What sucks is I have an 11am doctor appointment which involves a mile of walking (1/2 mile each way from the subway station). Not looking forward to that.

Then more snow coming on Tuesday, though we only got 1.5" last night so basically nothing.

Looks like central Kentucky is going to get hammered with this upcoming storm. Philly's getting 5-8" per NWS warning, higher amounts south of here in DC/Baltimore. Ours doesn't arrive until early Tuesday morning I believe.

Huge amount of winter storm warnings up on NWS's site. http://www.weather.gov/

Latest forecasts show Louisville getting 8-12 inches, with up to 15 inches south.  Even a foot on the KY/TN line.  Bitter cold temps for the week, so the snow won't be going anywhere.  This has shifted north, with southern Indiana getting up to 8 inches.

Louisville should be able to handle this.  Farther south, I imagine they will have huge problems.  I just hope the power stays on.  It flickered earlier, due to the high winds.

I think the people in the warmer states don't need to be posting in this winter thread. They clearly don't know what winter is and wind chill below 0  :P  ... LOL and I clearly need to move somewhere warm! Maybe I will hunt for me a sugar daddy from a warmer state!  ;D

I was hoping we were going to avoid winter altogether in Northwest Arkansas, but no luck. We finally got hit last night.  Its -7c now and we got about 10cm last night. Not nearly as much as some northern states but enough to shut everything down until we can get our hair dryers out and clear the streets.  ;)

3F at 7am when I woke up, and now I'm reading we'll go to 1F Friday morning. Still on track for ~6 inches of snow tonight/tomorrow, though one model evidently is shifting the storm 50 miles further south so I might only get 2 inches. :P

For extra credit the Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire recorded a wind gust of 141mph yesterday. :-X

Richmond is expecting 8-12".  Our first measurable snow of the season.  Should start late this afternoon and end tomorrow morning.  My mother is leaving RI to come visit tomorrow -- bringing the damned snow south with her!!
The grocery stores are being overrun, as I speak

Oh well -- Sid and I head to New Orleans on Thursday, then onto a cruise ship on Saturday -- goodbye winter -- for a little while anyway.

I guess we have at least 8 inches.  I will have to measure.  They just cancelled school for tomorrow.  The plows are having a hard time keeping up and the salt stuff doesn't work as well in these temps.  Plus, we have all those suburban neighborhoods and even rural areas.  You drive 20 miles out of the city and there is farmland.

I imagine school will be out just about all week.  Even if the snow gets under control, they are calling for air temps of NEGATIVE 10 later in the week, with wind chills of -20 to -25.  Time for a tropical getaway.  I love the snow, but not the cold.

We had complete white outs two days ago with snow emergencies issued, so no one was supposed to be on the road anyway.

It's 4F right now and will be colder than hell for at least the next two weeks.  I need to move to a warmer state also Init.  If you find a sugar daddy, see if he has a brother, or sister.

By the way, we have about two feet of snow.

 8)  I don't have a winter wonderland of snowfall to show you all, but today Ed and I went to A. L. Anderson Park.  This park is about 4 miles north of us, and on Lake Tarpon. It a great park to walk in, as it has a little bit of hill to it, and you really feel the burn in the legs

http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/01_anderson.htm

So,  We got a good walk in today !!   Lots of families were out, there were some flying kites today.

Also took some pictures !  Enjoy !
