D-Day Landings
« on: June 06, 2014, 01:56:41 PM »
I felt really emotional to see the veterans back over in Normandy,France on the news over the last few days.
Just a thank you for all military personnel from all over the world for everything that they sacrificed for us.

I feel the same way, BC. Makes me teary-eyed. I had several family members in the mix there including an aunt who was a flight nurse bringing back the wounded and two uncles who were pilots. The older I get the more I realize how great their commitments, how quietly they lived their lives post-war and how whiny many of us are while living in the freedom they won for us. Extraordinary bravery.

My dad and uncle both survived the Normandy landing. The stories they told always sent a chill down my spine. A big thanks to all who sacrificed then and to all since. without them would not have the freedoms we enjoy today.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worthwhile.                              The point of the journey is not to arrive.

emeraldize and phoenix,

Thanks for telling your personal stories about your family members. My great uncle made it through Normandy too but so many of his brothers didn't come home.

My most treasured possession is an old tea caddy full of old pictures of my family from that era.My grandpa was out in the Middle East with the Royal Navy then and always had amazing stories to tell us.

Thanks again
