Viramune Copay assistance canceled
« on: June 04, 2014, 11:50:33 AM »
I just received a letter from Boehringer Ingelheim that they are canceling their copay assistance program.  WTF?

Has anyone else received this notice?  That's going to make a $200 a month difference for me.

No explanation as to why,  or if a substitute program is going to replace it.  The website that is on the letter does not work,  and only automated options when I call.

They always had the least generous copay assistance but I guess they just decided to get out of it all together.

I am starting to use the generic version of the older Viramune 200mg (which I take 2 x200 mg in one daily dose)

I assume the manufacturer's revenue have plumeted because of these generics

Have you checked if they are offering something for their newly released 400 mg XR

NVP/ABC/3TC/... UD ; CD4 > 900; CD4/CD8 ~ 1.5   stock : 6 months (2013: FOTO= 5d. ON 2d. OFF ; 2014: Clin. Trial NCT02157311 = 4days ON, 3days OFF ; 2015: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02157311 ; 2016: use of granted patent US9101633, 3 days ON, 4days OFF; 2017: added TDF, so NVP/TDF/ABC/3TC, once weekly

Thanks or the replies guys.

I am taking the 400mg XR.  That's what they are canceling.  I have taken the 2x 200 once daily in the past before it was generic.  Not sure what the cost would be now.

However,  I'm leaning toward a med change at this point.  I've got other issues going on that might benefit from a med change anyway.  So this may be the kick in the pants that I need to make that happen.

I can't understand how eliminating their copay assistance is going to help their sales though.  Seems pretty stupid.  But what do I know about running a drug company?
