cunnilingus while menstrating
« on: April 10, 2014, 09:19:26 AM »
Like so many others on this site, I took a chance during a night of heavy drinking. I met a women in a bar ended up back at a hotel and we both preformed oral on each other. I know through reading numerous posts that Hiv is not transmitted through oral sex, but after I had gone down on her we realized she had started her period. Does this change in any way the possibility on contracting Hiv.  I am only two weeks out from the event and am planning on testing around the six week mark.  Thanks in advance for the help, you guys are truly AWSOME people.

Daffy, your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of HIV in a fiable form. So you are basically worrying unnecessarily.

You can go ahead and get tested at 6 weeks if you want to just for your peace of mind. I don't expect anything other than a negative result.

What is a red flag in your story is having had casual sex when drinking heavily. This is something to avoid in the future because as you learned it inhibits your ability to make good safer sex decisions. Fortunately you'll come out of this ok but it is something to pay attention to in the future. Have the sex you want safely and soberly.

Andy, Thank you so much for the quick reply. The amount of anguish and guilt I have felt since this episode truly has been life changing. I am so grateful for finding this site that offers professional sound advice. I tip my hat to you and the other moderators who provide this invaluable resource.
