Likely Poz, Sad, Lonely and Confused

Hi Everyone,

It seems as though most people who post in this forum and sub-forum know what they'd like to ask or know what they're seeking. I'm aware of what I've done and that my behavior was high risk. I hold sole responsibility for putting my health in jeopardy. Last year was very rough on me and so things sort of spiraled out of control... I'm very sad and feel alone. I keep things to myself and do not share concerns such as this with friends or family. Figured posting on here anonymously might be of some benefit instead of not talking about it at all.

History / Background

Had a boyfriend for about two years. Person meant a lot to me and cared about him deeply. No fights, arguments and thought I met the person I'd spend the rest of my life with. Left for a couple of weeks for work at which time I was broken up with through a text message. Found out later he had been cheating on my with someone who approached him as being my friend, who also had a boyfriend. This when things became very tough for me. In addition to this, I was promoted again at work and had to take on a lot more responsibility.

What I've Done...

I've had sex with four separate individuals without protection in the last few months. While I was a top each time I understand there is still high risk involved with this. One was someone I had met on Grindr, another was another ex boyfriend and the third was a close friend of mine who in a drunken stuper wanted to have sex with me and having a crush on him for years I gave in... to say the least afterwards I sort of lost interest. The fourth was pretty much the town slut (nothing wrong with sluts).

Right Now

I'm not feeling very good. I've got a scratchy throat, headache and have swollen lymph nodes in my groin and armpit area. I left work early. I'm pretty sure it isn't the flu. I had the flu shot and then I got the flu shortly after already. There isn't really anything going around at work or in the area... not sure what I am asking but we'll see what type of responses I get maybe hearing from people will give me insight as to what I'm doing on here or seeking. I know I should get tested... just am scared and don't think I can handle it right now.

Oh and About Me
26 years old. I live in Idaho.

You cannot go by symptoms, as they can be caused by many things.  The only way to know your status is to test, 6 weeks after your last unprotected sex and then at 3 months to confirm the result.  What you should be more concerned about is STDs as they are much easier to contract.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start.  As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV.  Some of the other STDs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

I appreciate the response. I went to go get tested a few weeks ago and my primary physician I found out tested me for everything under the moon except HIV (weird huh?). But I've had intercourse a couple more times since then so will also have to play the waiting game a bit more to really know for sure.
