That's why, when it gets that cold, people need to keep a trickle going out of their faucets.  So the pipes won't freeze.  My brother did that all the time when he owned property in Alabama.

I always do that when temps drop below 17 ... that seems to be the destructive zone here .

Speaking of wimps in Florida -- how pathetic is this? Even Texas doesn't suck as much as Florida.

How's about I warm you yanks up with some red hot southern lead...zat sound good?

Goodness you're really dumb -- do you realize that cannon was manufactured at Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond which was burned to the ground by Yankees? I should know because I went to a university MERE FUCKING BLOCKS AWAY.

ps: I hereby retract my statement about Florida being full of more suck than Texas. As long as Guilhermina lives there, nothing can suck more. I mean look at what a fucking goober he is in that picture -- what is up with that? God help this woman if I ever marry someone like that in real life.

I found it hard to believe that they would cancel first Friday, but yes they did. People do have warm coats to wear down hear for those chillier nights, but I thought cancelling this was a little too  much.  :P

I have a crush on him too! Can't think of his name at the moment, but I sure can picture him. They're starting the new season on Fox at 9pm this Friday and I've got my Sky+ set to record. :)

Oh! Gibbs! I remembered! He's sexy.

Hope you got some sleep, sweetie. You're in my thoughts.

Hard to believe that cold weather is hitting up North and that we are going to drop significantly in the next 24-36 hours when it is just slightly cloudy here in Miami and 79 degrees with no wind at 10:40 a.m.

My brother in Peoria is gearing up for some extremely cold temps....

Stay warm everyone to the North.... It's looking like the coldest it will get here is 46 degrees late tomorrow evening.

Well, it is WINTER -- it's supposed to be cold!!  Well -- I'll cut Jeffie-poo a break -- it really should NOT be that cold in Alabama.......

I agreed with this Bostonian interviewed on the Weather Channel the other day -- "A Snowstorm??  In Boston??  Who'd have thought THAT"  Then he closed with a nice roll of the eyes.

Everyone on the news is going apeshit over the temperature in Green Bay -- I heard it's only like the 15th coldest day up there -- not even top 10.   ::)

Going to get to single digits here in Richmond on Tuesday night -- I am sure they will be closing schools and talking of the "bitterly cold conditions" -- pffft...  Put a sweater on under your coat and get your asses to school!!

Oh Phil -- make sure the sunscreen is broad spectrum......

Even though it's above 20, I need a "bitching waiver" because tonight will be the coldest it's been in South Texas in 5 years.

Freeze warnings were just slapped up as far south as a mere 95 miles northwest of Miami -- WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE WHEN OUR ORANGE JUICE RUNS OUT NEXT WEEK!

Exactly...
Up in Ocala where my mother lives they are expecting temps down to 25 and have hard freeze warning - that is up in "orange" country....

Better stock up!

BTW, we are down to 73 degrees here right now... my A/C just shut off.... time to get out the winter jacket for work tomorrow and possibly Tuesday.

NOOOO! Not the JUICE!

They actually do panic down here when the freeze warnings are issued - the farmers go out and continuously water the crops to try to keep them from freezing.... and they try to harvest as much as they can early - but expect to see prices of OJ go up....

My brother has to go to work tomorrow and he is in Peoria, Illinois... They are predicting a high of -9 tomorrow and a low of -18 tonight (and that is not including the wind chill). I definitely do not miss the cold weather... I put up with it for 31 years prior to moving here - and I really just can not tolerate it - it not only makes me cold, but really causes me to become non-functional and really depressed. I guess I have undiagnosed seasonal depressive disorder - so, Florida is the perfect place for me (well, not so much Florida - as I would freeze and be depressed if I was in Ocala or anywhere in Central or North Florida - but South Florida - we only get one or two days a year where it drops to the high 30s/low 40s and maybe a 1/2 dozen days in the 40s, and that is mainly late night/early morning).

Anything below 65 and I have to put my heat on in the house/car.... Seriously, my blood has thinned over the 15+ years I have been here.

As much as I might joke, I definitely feel for all those up in the frigid temperatures - stay in, stay warm...and it will be over in a few days - please don't venture out if you don't have to, and if you have to go out, have some extra supplies with you (blankets, additional clothing) to cover up with and let someone know where you are going.

NOOOO! Not the JUICE!

I never drink orange juice -- too acidic.

btw: DENSE FOG ALERT IN PHILADELPHIA. VISIBILITY DOWN TO 500 FT.

Our temperatures are actually going up overnight from 35F currently to 52F at 5AM. Then the cold front arrives at noon and we plummet to 7F within twenty hours.

Well, it is WINTER -- it's supposed to be cold!!

Um, ok.  The weather lady said it hasn't been a "high" of -10F here in years.  So, cold, yes.  But not THIS cold!

LOL- yes I have Mitch!   8)
Oh, and reply 371....  ::)

I'm putting a curse on your weather right now, Phil. Expect 13F and a foot of snow in the next couple days.  No, I wouldn't do that to you since you have SAD.  I'll think of something....

Jeff, I've sent out the Saint Bernards with the barrels.  Seriously, keep warm, I know that's unusual for Bama.

That's crazy...

It is crazy. I just turned off my heat and I'm going to have take the comforter off of my bead or it will too hot.

ps: our maximum wind chill low during all of this will be -20°F... But Betty's will be -55°F so I guess I'll just shut up.

BUT HEY IT'S JUST WINTER FOLKS SO SUCK IT UP -- NOTHING ABNORMAL GOING ON HERE!

Yep --- just like you said........   8)

Seriously though-- for folks where it really will be brutally, dangerously cold (not here in Richmond) do take precautions -- if you can stay inside, then do so!!!  With some hot chocolate (alcohol is very bad when it's cold.....)

Its so silly . Im watching the news and they are showing the store shelves at wall mart . There is not one bag of bread left in the store as well as milk .

We are going to see the coldest weather in decades and a few snow flurries but nothing to warrant a run on staples . The news crews are outdoors doing live broadcast about how a little drizzle may make a few puddles freeze . Its cracking me up .

Update .... they are now reporting school and business closings .

That reminds me, I need to go to the supermarket tomorrow morning before it gets really cold. I only have 2 eggs left and a few slices of bread. Oh, and of course, one half a wheel of Uplands Rush Creek Reserve, a sort of highly regarded domestic Vacherin Mont d'Or.

Same here.  Bread is gone from stores.  I could go without bread for several days, not to mention one or two.  I laughed when the reporter said, "All 1% milk is gone."  Dear lord!  I just kept thinking of people refusing to drink 2% or skim, and leaving the store without.
