Losing My Mind! So Scared! Seroconversion Sickness?
« on: November 20, 2013, 11:15:01 AM »
I'm a woman who had unprotected vaginal sex with a man. He tested negative for HIV. We had sex May 28th. I was fine until July 19th when I experienced a very low grade fever the didnt break a 100 degrees F, swollen glands and a sore throat. The swollen glands went away after 2-3 days, and the sore throat went away in about 6 days. The low grade fever was the last to go which went away in 6 days. But no rash, no chills, no diarrhea, and no muscle or joint pains. I also had a UTI starting the 19th. This whole thing lasted till the 25th of July. I was also incredibly stressed and had much anxiety about school the week prior and had not slept at all, so my body was exhausted. Is this seroconversion sickness? Or was this just a cold? Because I have gotten things like this prior when I had no risk, but it went away within 2-3 or 3-4 days. Can someone please answer me so I can have some peace of mind? Please, I am freaking out.

You had unprotected vaginal sex so you must test for HIV and all other STD's . You can do so at 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 3 months to confirm the results . Judging from your timeline you can test at any time now for a conclusive result .

Your symptoms could be caused by many things other than HIV so get tested , its the only way to know your status .
