Pregnant and scared to death
« on: September 24, 2013, 09:47:25 AM »
Hi everyone,

I didn't know where to turn to. The last couple if days have been miserable for me. I just found out I am pregnant(unplanned pregnancy). My husband is excited but, I am scared to death bc of the mandatory hiv test. A couple of years ago while I was at a club with a friend a man followed me into the bathroom and raped me. I have never told a single soul about this until now. I was embarrassed that I wasn't able to defend myself to this man, I was weak. It has always been on my mind that I could of had possible exposure to hiv from this man. My husband doesn't even know that I was rapped and I feel such guilt that if I am hiv positive that I gave it to my loving husband. I am just so scared!! I haven't been able to eat or sleep. I feel like I am going to have this baby and not be around to watch him or her grow up. What am I going to tell my husband if this test comes back positive and I gave him this disease. And if I am positive all of the nurses and doctors will know. My job is working at the hospital... All of my co-workers will find out!! So scared!! Thank you for taking the time to read my post!!

Im very sorry this awful thing happened to you but there is a way forward .

It may not seem like it now but the fact that you now must test for HIV can be beneficial to your healing from this traumatic event in your life . Testing for HIV is important to the health of your unborn baby as well as you and your husband .

You have testing options but I would recommend that you find a place to test that offers counseling as well as a HIV test .

We can only do so much to help you in this forum , we can advise that you did have a risk and that you must test . I urge you to reach out to a trusted friend or doctor or someone you know that can support you and go get that test done .

Once this is behind you the healing can begin and you will have put one major fear behind and can get on with feeling the joy that comes from bringing a new life into the world .

I wish there were more we could do for you . Im wishing you the best of luck .
