Alcohol & HIV Treatment
« on: July 22, 2013, 11:10:03 AM »
Hey all!

I've just started taking the meds ("vitamins") last week and have a quick doubt/question.

Of course, "heavy alcohol use" is NEVER a good thing - even worse with HIV and all.

But, I just wanted to know if I can continue to enjoy drinks such as wine or an occasional Screw Driver now and then (basically on the weekends). Nothing that will cause those terrible hangovers.

Thank in advance for any help!

I think you doctor would instruct you not to drink any alcohol if that was the case, and your HIV med prescription bottles would be similarly labeled. Hence it is fine to drink moderate amounts of alcohol.

ps: you can even get completely shit-faced from time to time and also do a line or two of coke -- you won't die

An occasional wine or screwdriver is just fine. I've been known to have a margarita or two each week and am doing peachy.

I had some of this stuff this past weekend.

I mixed it with root beer and a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I've been known to have a glass or two of wine without any issues.  If alcohol and hiv meds counteracted, I'd have died a couple of decades ago. ;)

Just don't drink to the point of forgetting your meds.  To this day, my only skipped doses have been a result of a box glass of wine.

Reassuring news!

One of my super main priorities is NOT to miss not even ONE dose. I've set like 4 alarms.. just to make sure! LOL
