hiv poz and wanting to father children
« on: March 05, 2013, 11:05:04 AM »
I was diagnosed 2.5 yrs ago and it has really been hard to find a female that is willing to have a baby with me a hiv poz male. The frustration is hard to deal with because I feel like I wouldnt have these  problems if I were hiv neg. Im 27 yrs old healthy no meds (doctors say im lucky), I workout 5times a week, hardworking man with 3jobs, own place, car and money.  I would love to meet a nice poz female and establish a good friendship and produce a child, we both can come to parenting  options as adults to see what best suits the childs need.  I just would love to experience Fatherhood and in a world filled with stereotypes amongst hiv its just irritating to even go thru the process of meeting, revealing status and facing rejection. Can some someone understand my situation?  :-\

I can understand it. With that, you are pretty screwed and not in a good way. There are alternative methods. With the right partner, there is sperm washing. There is also using a sperm donor and doing invitro. There is also surrogacy. You need to check your state laws. California actually has the best surrogacy laws in the US. They are iron clad and have been contested all the way up to supreme court and held up. Honestly don't know what I would do without my wife. I found out I was POZ when we were trying to have kids and doing invitro. Almost ruined our marriage because I was/still am ultra paranoid about getting her infected.

I feel your pain my friend.  I too am hopeful, however, I am 46 so who knows.  Hang in there though, as Torch said, there are many options and no doubt it will happen for you.
Good luck and god bless.
