Worried Sick
« on: November 23, 2012, 12:09:16 PM »
About 6 months ago i had unprotected sex with a friend whom i did not know their status for HIV, after that encounter about 6 weeks later i fell really ill with something that felt like the flu. My body and muscles were in pain everywhere, I had discharge coming out of my penis, and i had constant headaches. I have been tested several times (once last week) and the tests have all come back negative but over the last 8 months i have just felt my health deteriorating. I had a rash that looked similar to bug bites all over my chest a couple months ago, and i have had really soft stools for about 4 months now also i have had nasal congestion for the last 6 months even though i have never had allergies before in my life. I was told that since my test was post the 3 month waiting period and also past the 6 month period that they are completely conclusive, but it doesn't make sense since the lymph nodes in my neck are still swollen and i still have this type of cold/nasal congestion thing that hasn't gone away for the last 8 months now. by the way we use 3rd gen antibody tests here.

Keep working with your doctor to find out what is actually going on with you. Whatever that may be, you have more than conclusively ruled hiv out of the picture.

You do NOT have hiv.

Have you checked for all the other, much more easily transmitted STIs? If you haven't, do it.

You do NOT have hiv and that is conclusive.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Hi Ann, thanks for the response.

They did check for all std's a couple times except Hepatitis. The Doc is running out of ideas as to what it is, but i really hope they find out soon before it's too late :/

Get out of the "too late" mentality. There has to be an explanation and if you don't get a satisfactory diagnosis and treatment from one doctor then see another. Until you do get it fixed.

For sure we know it's not HIV.

Good luck in getting this troubling situation sorted out successfully.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'll keep working with my doctor to get to the bottom of this problem.
