Change of Meds
« on: October 18, 2012, 08:43:07 AM »
Hello all,

Its been a good number of years I have not posted on the forum and its good to recognize a number of names still posting here from the time I was first diagnosed (2004).

My question is after slightly over 8 years on the same regimen (combivir and Viramune) I had two tests that suggest that I might have become resistant to one ot the meds. (I have never missed any doses maybe a little late sometimes)

Of course im having a drug resistance test but what i find a little strange is that my Dr. told me to have a break for two months before I go on the new regimen. My VL is now slightly over 10,000 copies and my cd4 dropped to 540 from 780 in three months.

Its not that I dont trust my doctor but is this normal practice?. my lipids are normal and have border line cholosterlol. To be honest I am thrilled with the break but not sure if its wise to let my CD's go down further before starting starting the new regimen.

Any one with change of meds experience?

Many thanks and love to all.
