Traveling to Singapore
« on: August 25, 2012, 11:11:13 AM »
I am HIV+ traveling to Singapore for work. It appears that Singapore is very restrictive and will deport you if they find out you are HIV+. Has anyone traveled to Singapore with meds? Is customs strict? Any advice for whether to ship meds ahead or to bring them in with you? Have you heard of anyone being deported coming in for a short term visit? Any input from travelers is appreciated.

I was in Singapore in July, and the immigration process at Changi was very simple and the agents were polite. Just smile, be pleasant, and follow directions. I wasn't asked to declare meds, and no one was being singled out to be searched.  How long are you staying? The country is very restrictive with lots of things.  Don't eat or drink on the subway, don't chew gum, and whatever you do, do not use illegal drugs.

Thanks. I just replied to your post about SE Asia--guess it was a bit late :) Hope you enjoyed it.

I am there for only 8 days. I am coordinating a visit for a VIP, so will be avoiding all things that could get me in trouble :)

Thanks for the advice. Good to know.
