First Round of Blood Test.... nervous
« on: January 12, 2012, 11:19:09 am »
I have a blood test schedule for tomorrow. There's a LONG list of tests. I dont think I'll have much blood left. Here is the list. I'm a little nervous. Does this look like a good "first test?" Anything missing?

1. Torch IGG Panel
2. HIV 1 RNA, Quantitative Real Time PCR
3. Hep C
4. STD panel test
5. Phenosense GT
6. Lipid Panel
7. CBC
8. Hep A, Hep B
9. Amylase
10. Lymophcyte Panel
11. HLA B

It might be a little easier on the folks here to combine threads instead of creating new ones.  These tests appear to be adequate as an initial starting point.  Continue to become educated and become your own best advocate.  I didn't do that myself and regret it immensely.

Looks like you got all the initial bases covered.  Most of those tests are one time tests so once this initial blood draw is done future tests will require less blood loss (although these tests are not going to deplete you or anything).

I think Woulfie was just saying take an active role in your healthcare.

The US recommandation includes a resistance test at diagnosis and an other one before inititation of meds (in case the initiation is differed). Is that was is labelled Phenosense GT ?

the HLA B will come out either positive or negative
if negative the 'good' news is that you may be eligible for Abacavir
if positive the 'good' news is that you 'may' be a slower progressor

or the other way round, I don't recall
