Antibiodic Interaction with Atripla?
« on: November 25, 2011, 10:32:35 PM »
A couple of days ago I started getting really sick with runny nose, fever, nausea. I went to ER and they gave me zithromax antibiodic. My symptoms did not improve and I went to a walk in clinic as my regular doc was out of office on maternity leave. The doc there diagnosed me with acute sinusitis. She prescribed me Clarithromycin also called Biaxin two pills once a day. My question is, I also take Atripla for my HIV and have been for a year. Is it ok to take Clarithromycin for my sinusitis with the Atripla? I mean, I take the clarithromycin mid-afternoon and the atripla at night ao not together...I saw a couple things on the internet that suggested clarithromycin might not be good for HIV patients? But I called a couple pharmacies and they said they showed no bad interaction in the system...also, the doc who prescribed me the clarithromycin knew of my hiv status and being treated for it...surely she would not have prescribed clarithromycin if it was bad to take with Atripla. Would just like some clarity from the knowledganle members of this forum, thanks!

Antibiotics are not contraindicated with Atripla.
