Idea for weight gain - convenient meals on the go
« on: September 26, 2011, 03:07:23 PM »
Just an idea, but from working out and trying to bulk up for the past couple years (gained 25 pounds mostly muscle before HIV and have kept the weight since).

I've been grinding oatmeal in a coffee grinder (blender works too) to perfect proportions meaning if I want 75g of carbs I'll dump 1 cup in, depending on your oatmeal value. Then I split them up into ziplock bags and add a scoop or two of protein and carry them around with me at work, at the gym and school with plastic cups and a water bottle in my backpack. If I can't eat or in between meals i'll mix my powder with water and drink it. Then I'll have them between meals or if I don't have a chance to eat. It's super convenient if your busy and don't have time to cook.

Since oatmeal is an oat it is composed of complex carbs rather than sugars and will be harder to digest. The taste is a 5 or 6 on a scale of 10 but if you're really committed to the weight gain I'd recommend it.
