15 Years HIV+ And Now Cancer
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:47:14 PM »
7/22/2010, a routine colonoscopy found Stage 2 Colon-rectal cancer, T3 tumor, which was obstructing and removed surgically. 9/15/2010, I began 6 weeks radiation and Xeloda chemotherapy treatment, and just finished 4 months of aggressive Xeloda treatment 5/1/2011. I asked my Oncologist, Radiologist, and Infectious Disease doctors about the impact of radiation/chemo on my CD4/CD8 counts and none had any definative answers.
7/22/2011, just completed a CTScan & colonocsopy and no tumors found, but my CD4 has dropped from 700+ to 180 ... Viral Load remains undectable ... been on preventive Bactrim since October 2010. Been on Atripla for several years.
Are there any studies of HIV+ patients who have undergone radiation + Xeloda oral chemotherapy and what the expected "turnaround" of the CD4/CD8 count may be?
