Have i got hiv infection?
« on: May 11, 2011, 12:53:52 PM »
recently some days ago i had sexual (vaginal) intercourse with a girl(prostitute) and experienced condom breakage.although i pulled out back may be just after 2-3 strokes with breaked condom but felt a little wetness around the penis top and replaced with a new one. also i didn'e ejaculated till the end not even the pre cun during the intercourse.what are my chances of acquiring an hiv infection?
the girl may or may not be hiv positive....her hiv status is not known to me.
I am doubtful and nervous because of those 2-3 strokes during the condom breakage....

i asked the same thing from a friend a of mine ,he told me that accurate result of hiv test will be noticed after six months ...the time the virus takes to grow....is there any other method to knw it earlier?

To cut to the chase, you did have a risk but a very, very low one.

The condom protected you until it broke. It was a single, brief incident without protection. And HIV is significantly more difficult to transmit from female to male than the other way around. Whether you ejaculated or not is totally irrelevant as far as any risk to you. The risk would be to the woman if you were HIV+, but not to you.

Just to be sure of your negative status, get tested at 13 weeks/3 months. Your friend is wrong about testing to 6 months. That is long outdated information.

Given the circumstances you have described I expect you to test negative.

Make sure that you are using fresh condoms that fit you properly. It's good to know that you are using condoms because they provide very effective protection.

Good luck when you get tested.
