Similar forum for HepC?
« on: January 27, 2011, 04:55:10 AM »
Hey folks, I recently met someone who had just been diagnosed with HepC, and my mother has had it for years. I know there has been chat here about co-infection but I was wondering if there are any similar forums to this that deal solely with HepC. One with as good a group of supportive people too.  :)

We tried out a coinfection forum here a few years ago, but took it down because after around six months or so, it was like a ghost town with only two or three threads.

When I was still dealing with hcv I belonged to a couple forums, but I can't remember what they were called and I no longer have the bookmarks. There are quite a few out there that were started by ex-military people, as there is a high incidence of hcv in vets from the Vietnam era.

I would suggest you google "hepatitis C forum" (include the " marks) and see what you come up with. Good luck!

Oh, and you might want to tell your people about http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/ While they deal with hiv and hepatitis coinfection, they are second-to-none where information on hep C (both alone and with hiv) is concerned.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
