Very anxious.. please advise.
« on: November 05, 2010, 07:53:08 PM »
Hello Everyone.

Andy, Rod, and Ann, could one of you please give me some advise. I'm pretty nervous...

I'm a male, and I recently had oral and vaginal intercourse with a female sex worker. The oral was unprotected and lasted for about 5 minutes - I was the receiver. The vaginal sex lasted for about 10 minutes, and I wore a condom the whole time. I took a quick look at the condom afterwards, and it didn't appear to be broken.

I'm concerned because I don't know what type of condom was used. It was already out of its package when she brought it in and put it on me, so I didn't see a brand, whether it was latex, or anything. I've been going crazy thinking about all these "what ifs" Like, maybe it was not latex, maybe there were holes in it, etc...

Should I be concerned? Or, can I put this behind me and forget about it? I"ll go with whatever advice you give me..

Thank you  :)

You have nothing to be concerned about. You never had a risk of contracting HIV.

You did just what you are supposed to do by wearing a condom for intercourse. If the condom was damaged you would have known it because it's not about teensy weensy little holes. When a condom goes the whole thing goes and it ends up looking like a fringed hoop on your penis.

As to getting oral, in the entire epidemic no guy has ever been infected through that very common sexual act. It's safe to say you are not going to make history by becoming the first.

You are worrying needlessly. Keep using condoms everytime and you will be well protected against the sexual transmission of HIV.
