That was tragic with Gary Coleman. For him to be broke like that, didn't his parents rip him off. I remember seeing him on Divorce Court. He seemed so bitter and angry. My heart just went out to him because it has to be a bitch to have your parents rip you off. May he rest in peace....

Though I am surprised about Dennis Hopper. Really?

Louise Bourgeois just died, not that most of you know who that is. ::wink::

When the Tate Modern first opened a decade ago she created their first commission for the turbine hall, and I just happened to be in London for it.  Fond memories.

I don't have a clue who she is but I did notice her on Yahoo. They say death comes in 3's.

Take a long look at his photo, Mary. That's what awaits you.

Also, Art Linkletter has popped his clogs.

Blimey, I thought Art popped years ago. I'm so out of touch.

I fixed your fucked formatting, btw. You're welcome.

Do you think we're philistines???  "Not that most of you know"?????  I have never been fond of giant spiders but I do appreciate the way she mirrored in larger scale what many ceramic artists where doing at the same time.  I've just never found her work to be that 'original'.

Do you have a bug up your ass or something?  My placement of "::wink::" meant my comment was to be taken as a bit of a joke.  Obviously some people would know who Louise Bourgeois was, but most would not.

Sheesh!  No bug up my ass at all--but niiice way to take an opposing view! You don't always have to be right about everything, ya' know? I was actually being sarcastic about the first part of the comment--but I'm totally serious about the ick factor with giant spiders.  I also can't help--because of the timing--in seeing her work as derivative of much of what was going on in ceramic arts at the time.  But then again, why should my opinion matter anyway?

I don't see my post addressing your interpretation of Louise Bourgeois' work at all.  Care to point out where I did so?

Look--no need to get all tit-for-tat here.  You expressed an opinion and I expressed an opinion.  Where do I think your post addressed my interpretation?  It was at the "Do you have a bug up your ass or something" comment, which I believe was how you began your post.

She's dead.  Yes we lost an artist.  Yes MANY people know who she was.  Some like her stuff, others thought it pedantic, pedestrian and derivative.  I doubt this is all that important in the grand scheme of things.

OK boys, you can stop chasing each other around the desk now. You're making me dizzy. ;)

For the record, I didn't think much of Louise Bourgeois' work. That huge penis was kinda creepy.

I know who Louise Bourgeois is, she's that guy who was a ventriloquist and had a dummy dressed in a tophat with tuxedo....  had a daughter named Candace, I think.  (wink* muthafukas :D)

Yeahhhh Gary Coleman was kind of a bad person. Every online biography of him is more about his criminal charges than him being some shining beacon of childhood acting. Not to say that anyone here thinks that. So don't start crying about your opinions, girls.

And that picture is the best.
