Some food for thought
« on: March 24, 2010, 06:40:01 AM »
Ok so Iím not the sharpest pencil in the box at the best of times, but what the hell, I put a bit of effort in being a better person to the person I was, before my diagnosis. Over the past four years I have been on and off from all websites dealing and living with hiv/aids. I have made many friends abroad and locally.

So it happened I went through a relationship that went totally off the rocks, I lost my father and cousin 7 months apart. My grandmother had a stroke at the age of 78 and was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the age of 79 being a passenger, she broke her collarbone, and February 14th 2010 she turned 80.

So I decided that it is time to get more involved with people who is in the same boat I am in, people living with hiv, people who have made a difference and my little corner to escape what is around me.  Like many I have made mistakes on these boards, posted on threads I was not suppose to, eventually I wished they wanted to ban me, too many issues and demons going through my mind.

I met the most wonderful man who I take my hat off to fro being patient and standing by my side, a true Angel to the word. I post on threads, if I feel I can make a contribution to anotherís well being, something encouraging to uplift them, and if need be start my own thread if advise is needed without hijacking someone elseís thread and make it mine.

I am grateful for the many diverse people I have met on here and for them sharing experiences and knowledge with me. I have been scolded if I was in the wrong but all in good faith I acknowledge I was wrong many times and if I havenít said Iím sorry, well now I do.

What makes my day is when I come on here and there are threads that make me laughed out loud and people think Iím a nutcase. Well, they are not far off with that notion at all.

There are many websites I do not visit anymore as I feel I have a man that is by my side and so to this place. Albeit I miss many people I met on aids2hiv , Co & Tammy, John & Trish, Fran, Camille, Florida69 who after all these years have a poem on his freezer I wrote back in the days, Bear, Eric and so much more, today there are many more that lifts my spirits on here, who I am thankful for, Ann, MtD, Killfoil, Sceebo, to mention a few but there are much more I say I am blessed with.

So you wonder why this long thread? Well the past few weeks I see a trend that is not very appealing where most threads are being taken over in hostile and hijacked for oneís own little pity party, the sympathy concert with the back ground vocals. I think if we can be more courteous to the original poster of a thread and give advice when needed, empathy to show we care, but not to take over their thread and make it ours, rather start your own thread that way people will not attack and be harsh on you, as a matter of fact they will respect you more, for you show some decency to all.

Yes we make jokes, that is part of life and there are some more serious cases where people vent to get something of their chest, something that is a problem, or just a shoulder to hold onto. When they start a thread, it is about them so let the sun shine for them even if it is short. Donít make it yours when it is a total derailment of the initial OP.
