When to Tell "I TOLD!!!!"
« on: October 18, 2009, 01:37:50 PM »
I have started seeing a lady that is not HIV+, we have seen each other a few times & I like her.  So when do you tell that you have HIV???
I have told her I am doing an AIDS walk in Palm Springs & she doesn't seem to have a negative reaction to that.
I have dated a few woman that are + so no question on that.

"Puzzled in the Desert"

I want to thank everyone who replied to my 1st post about this, well I told her Friday nite & I was the one who was shocked!!!  She was very receptive to me when I told her, she asked a few questions, needs some more knowledge (Which I am supplying) She said that we will learn together!!!!

Not so puzzled in the Desert now!!!

Thanks again

DG, that's wonderful news! Good luck with the relationship and keep us posted.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

There are two amazing serodiscordant couples where the man has HIV and the woman does not. You might want to let her know about them since they are great role models.

One of them is Shawn Decker and Gwenn. Shawn has a blog on poz.com and a webpage and they do a presentation called "A Boy. A Girl. And a virus.''

The other is Robbie and Danielle, also very inspiring. Here is an excerpt from an article linked below about when he told her:

On a misty Valentine’s Day, as Robby sat on a Florida beach with a college classmate named Danielle Arellano, he sensed he’d found the perfect partner.

They’d been dating for two months. He had already called his mom and told her there was this girl with a carefree spirit he “really, really liked.”

After watching a pink sunset and eating fresh berries, Robby turned to Danielle and said, “I have something to tell you.

“I have HIV.”

There are also, of course, many gay couples where one is poz and one is not.
