Fear and Anxiety
« on: April 15, 2009, 02:11:35 PM »
I never felt I was a hypocondriac, and consider myself at least partially sane :). Anyhow, I see so many other people on here with valid anxiety and concern over experiences, I feel for them and understand how scarry it is, I also feel in many ways the same. Last October 21 I took a HIV test, at home, Home Access, I had waited 6 months exactly to be tested, It came out negative, a year prior I also tested negative using orasure. well I have been so afraid of HIV since that I contstantly and irrationaly take my temp and check for symptoms even though I know full well not everyone has symptoms and that they can vary. I have been afriad to have any sex because I dont want any risk.. yet I goofed up and had someone give me a blowjob back in February, I not sure if its the guilt or that i put myself at risk. I had a mild cold that lasted 4 days with no fever about 2 months later, I know these are questions that get repeated over and over.. But should I get retested? I have not had any other type of sexual relations . I know my fear is irrational :)

You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV from receiving a blowjob. You might really want to think about educating yourself about how HIV is transmitted and seeking some professional mental help for your HIV phobias.

As far as risk for sexual transmission for HIV it's not complicated. Always use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse and you will be well protected. It's just as simple as that.

Getting a blowjob is not in any way a risk for HIV transmission. Zilch. None.

Your self-acknowledged phobias are a separate matter. For your peace of mind and to address them effectively you need to work with a professional. We can't help you with that in this setting.

You're welcome. Now do yourself a favor and get the help you need. Life is too short at its longest to spend unhappily.
