Rectal Ulcers
« on: August 04, 2006, 03:44:01 PM »
I am 41 on Sustiva and Combivir. CD4 440 and VL undetec. I was wondering if anyone has had a rectal ulcer. I have been having bleeding during bowel movements. Had a colonoscopy all clear except proctitis and a rectal ulcer. He gave me some suppositories, but they don't seem to be working.

I've not had a rectal ulcer (thank christ -- I understand they can be hideous) but I have heard of HIV positive people getting them. I don't know what else to say than keep working with your doctor to find out the cause. If your suppositories aren't helping, you need to get that reviewed too.

Best of luck and welcome to the Forums!

Ask your doctor about Proctafoam (sp?) it is a foam that you insert and provides instant relief, reduces swelling and itching.................might just work.
