Update on ME
« on: November 07, 2008, 12:27:26 AM »
Well I guess the stress of taking care of Louie has gotten to me.  Not to mention the heart disease that runs in my family.

For about a month now I've been feeling a little discomfort in my chest just to the left of center.  I saw our HIV doc 3 weeks ago and he did an EKG.  He didn't say anything to me afterwards so I didn't think anything of it.  Before the EKG he asked if I knew of a heart doctor to go to.  Then he remembered Louie had seen one a year ago.

So this past monday I called them up in the morning and they were able to get me in at 2pm that afternoon.  I had a second EKG done.  Come to find out the first showed a slight irregularity at the bottom of my heart that may suggest a slight blockage.

The second EKG didn't show anything, it was normal.  My HIV doc told me to take an aspirin a day so I have been doing that for a few weeks.  I have been doing fishoil suppliments for almost a year and was just put on the prescription strength fishoil supplement, 2 pills 2 times a day.  On top of that I have been doing flaxseed oil pills for a few months.

The heart specialist said those are all good.  He asked me about my diet and I told him we watch our fat intake, I do almost no extra salt on anything, 2% milk, canola oil and grill most meats.  He said that sounds good.

So next thursday on the 13'th I have to go for an echo-stress test with doppler, so they can see my heart in action and make sure I do not have any major blockages.

Louie's a worry wart.  He said they are not cutting me open.  So I told him, the doctor said since the 2nd ekg didn't show anything that chances are there is nothing to worry about.  Besides, I said if I had to have heart surgery then cut me open and fix what they can, it's either that or a major heart attack.  So I asked him what did he prefer, me cut open and fixed, or an unscarred chest and me dead.

Doc also said that hopefully if there is a slight blockage that maybe with meds we can take care of it or put in a stint if need be.

Here I am now, almost 21 yrs of being poz, not worried about the sniffles, or fluctuating counts, and now this!!

I'm scared to death about this, but I figured if I can fight HIV for all these years, I can beat this too.  Yet I have times that I'm afraid to die and that this is going to kill me.  Then I'm reminded that I have work to do with my Psychic abilities and the readings and writings that I do, that I caught what ever it is early and I'll be fine as long as I take better care of my body.  The universe/God has work for me to do and I heeded the warnings instead of ignoring them.

So I'm working on tweeking my diet, trying to quit smoking (a big no no), meditating more and going to start learning Yoga.  Doc said that all these things will help and may actually be able to reverse anything that may be going on.

Like we keep hearing, more and more of us are surviving HIV and because of this, we are having to deal with regular aging type problems, conditions and disease.

So no matter how old you are, if heart disease is in your immediate family, and you feel anything slightly strange primarily in your chest, insist that first you get an EKG and get to a heart specialist right away.  The life you save may very well be your own.  HIV can and does age your body and from what the heart specialist told me, it can affect your heart slightly and early.

I have been doing a lot of research online and they have come a long way with treating heart disease, especially if it is diagnosed early.  The earlier the better.

I'll let everyone know how I'm doing after the stress test is done.  I'll know the results of it on the 20'th of November.  So plenty of rest and relaxation until then.

Only thing is certain tension needs some release and I'm concerned about releasing the tension if you know what I mean.  Don't want to overdo it.
