I'm gonna need ADAP. Any suggestions or help?

Hey Eveyone,

Just to remind you, I was diagnosed 3 months ago and had to go on alot of meds:
Prezista,Isentress,Intelence,Norvir and Mepron for PCP protection.
My doctor worked some magic because I was so devastated and overwhelmed.

Well, my 3 months of meds are up and so is the magic.  There is NO WAY I can even afford
the co-pay on my insurance.  It's a tier system and my co-pay for all of this will be $1600.00!

I'm currently unemployed and clearly will need help.  I'm going for an intake at GMHC in NYC and
I'm assuming they will help me apply for it

Any words of advice, suggestions.  What I can expect?

By the way, I meant that my doctor helped me get the meds for free, these first three months.

Todd, you are in good hands, with the GMHC and they should be able to get you enrolled in ADAP.  You might want to Google, the ADAP program, for your state, just to check eligibility requirements.  I used to live in Florida, which allowed you to earn 300& of the poverty level and still be qualified.  Based on the 2007 poverty level income of $10,210, I can earn $30,630 and still qualify for ADAP.  ADAP programs generally have a formulary, or list of drugs that they cover for HIV and related issues.

Thanks so much.  I actually live in NYC, so yes, I feel very fortunate to be near GMHC.
I think the cap in NY is around 41,000.  I hope so, because I would like to occasionally work.
My work only comes that way anyway.

Hi Todd...For NY state ADAP program info call 1-800-542-2437...I believe the income cutoff limit is 44,000. It has been at that level for many years, at least since the mid-1990's. Also there is a savings limit.  Let me know if you have any other questions, I will be back next week.
