A volunteer attorney
« on: October 14, 2008, 11:05:55 PM »
I have written in another thread about my drivers license being revoked, with a perfect driving record and a 17 year old DUI case in another state.  I attended a class at the Sonoma County Bar Association this evening.  I only have document from the past few months because I thought it was resolved in 1991  I am not anal retentive enough to save such documents for 17 years.

Since my issue is from another state, the volunteer attorney could not represent me but as I handed him the docs and he read them, he said, "My partner is just like you in more ways than you know".  The attorney is gay and his partner has HIV.  I replied, "my partner is just like you but he practices a different field of law and it is important I do this myself".

We got down to business and his instructions were to telephone the Public Defender office in Hawaii, do not portray myself as a victim because, they get it all the time and it turns them off.  I have a warrant from 1992, failure to show the Court completion of a DUI course and the revocation of my Calif license.

The Court in Hawaii can not expect me to travel to Hawaii for the classes or to appear in court to prove completion.  I have been given a series of questions to ask (in order) and also asked to return to the class next month for a report.  Talk about the luck of the draw.  ;D  Have the best day
