Ok I'm confused & new.

Ok guys. I am a lurker..ha!
I've read the welcome thread..and have a quick question, and then I promise I will leave this forum for people who need it more than I. PROMISE. (i've seen wayyy too many people say that, and then post for like 5 days more. ha! crazy)..
I was a promiscous teenager who didn't really care. I was too afraid to test for HIV but was tested yearly for other STDS. I slept with many people, some protected, some not, all the way up until 2007. When 2008 hit, I was tested 3 months post exposure in March. Now, I took my first test, a rapid Uni-Gold it was negative. In April of 2008, I met someone who I really liked, and decided it would be ok if we slept together, but only if condoms were used. So after two times protected vaginal sex(no breaks, no slipping), he decided to be a pig and leave me.

Do I need another test?

As long as you tested negative at three months or more after your last incident of UNPROTECTED anal or vaginal intercourse, you don't need further testing at this time.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

It's a very happy thing that you tested negative. BUT you do need to learn from this experience. You can have intercourse with as many partners as you like. If they are HIV+ that is irrelevant as long as always, without exception, a condom is used for either vaginal or anal intercourse. NO EXCEPTIONS. It doesn't matter what you think you know abou the person's history or how great they look or how inconvenient finding a condom is at the moment -- a condom is a MUST everytime. Anytime you have intercourse without a condom you are putting your life at risk. It's as stark and as simple as that.
