Early symptoms
« on: February 27, 2008, 03:50:34 PM »
i was dianosed hiv + last august but my partner was neg

for the year we where seeing each other before the test, always used protection for anal sex and never for oral sex.
after the diagnoses, we started using condoms for all forms of 'risky' sex: ie him giving me a blowjob but not the other way round.

i started my combo of kivexa and sustiva a few weeks after as my vl was 39000 and my cd4 was about 107, after 3 months my viral load is undetecteable and the cd4 is comming back up and is about 224.

what i am asking is this: my (now ex) partner was obivoulsy tested 3 months after i last ejaculated in his mouth and it came back neg, that was about 3 months ago but recently we have noticed that he has been sweating slightly at night.
the problem is, none of us can remember if it has happed before but on the nights it has happend, it has been quite warm as the heating has been on. the nightsweats that i sometimes suffer from are severe by comaprison but i am worried all the same. since my diagnoses, i have not ejaculated in his mouth and we have had no broken condoms (i'd notice that, right?)

so what i am asking is: after infection, how long does it take for the descibibed symptoms to manifest themselves?

your help is appreciated

Your partner tested hiv negative at three months - he IS hiv negative. You've been using condoms and condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection. Sweating at night is in no way hiv specific.

Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

It would be more appropriate for you to post in the other forums, such as the Living forum, from now on. Welcome!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
