Condom use
« on: January 11, 2008, 08:40:41 AM »
Hello folks.
I have a question which I cant seem to find the answer to anywhere else and you all seem to know your stuff so here goes.  If a guy is fingering (sorry, dont know the non-vulgar term) a women then puts on a condom for the main event, whats the chances of some vaginal fluid getting on the inside part and infecting the man?
I'm always careful with the "dirty" hand but I guess I could have messed up a few times while opening the packet or possibly transfering fluid to the other hand when trying to get the thing on.
I had thought about carrying wetwipes around cos they are convenient when you want to wash up a little in the heat of the moment, but I dont know if the fluid on those wipes would maybe sting the genitals.

You're worrying needlessly. HIV is a fragile virus and requires a very friendly environment to be transmitted. Which fingering does not provide. Additionally, the area of the vagina you would be fingering is not the cervical area, whcih is much further up in the vaginal cavity. The cervical area is where there would be secretions with HIV IF the woman is HIV+ and not around the labia. So your sticky fingers are absolutely not a risk for transmission. Period.

Good to know you're consistently using condoms. Way to go!

Thanks for the response. I did suspect this was nothing to worry about as far as HIV goes.  Even my doctor once told me I'm a big worrier ::)

OK. Well, life will provide you with enough to worry about. You can drop HIV out of that equation this time.
