Poz Young Gay Men's Group in Vancouver BC!!
« on: December 05, 2007, 02:37:58 PM »
Being young, gay and positive today can have so many challenges, creating a space where none of these things define you can be even more challenging. It is with this thought and mind YouthCO AIDS Society and Gayway have come together to host a monthly social group for young gay men (19-35) who are living with HIV. If you are a gay, HIV + man and between the ages of 19-35, this group is for you. A social group with a relaxed environment, good food, fun activities and no expectations.

First Thursday of every month (next one held on Dec 6th 2007), held at Gayway's new office at 900 Helmcken Street, 6-9pm.

For Info call YouthCO @ 604.688.1441 or e-mail waygay@youthco.org

Well that's a relief.  If there was anything Vancouver was running short on it was HIV programs catering to members of the gay community.  ::) (I hate using emoticons)

Yes, I find that young gay men are the hardest group to engage. Even from personal experience I was reluctant to go to 'support groups' so we thought more of a social safe space for positive gay men would be more appealing. Anyway stop by if you feel so inclined!

If you cant say something nice...dont say anything at all......but if I wasnt such a nice person I would have to ask how life for a new young 19 to 35 poz gay man not to mention the ladies is more challenging than the rest of us ?  I would suggest that if the going gets too rough...do what you did before you turned nineteen...sponge off your parents and whine alot...they are used to it and are specialist in making you feel special.  Good luck and I hope you make it to the old group and way beyond.

I think the idea is nice. Just think it would be better if the group were open to all. Being exposed to people of various ages might help the younger people see that life can still be good even when a person is older. But I still wish the best for this group. Hope it works out  :D
